Q
What is the Imperial Valley University Partnership?
A
It is an innovative educational initiative undertaken by Imperial Valley College and San Diego State University, Imperial Valley Campus. The initiative involves joint admission of students to both IVC and SDSU-IV. This is not a traditional "2 + 2" relationship between a community college and a university, but rather a program where students are initially admitted to both institutions, allowing for an absolutely seamless transition between the first two years of their undergraduate education and the final two years.
The Partnership will offer students not only accessible, affordable, high quality education, but an enriched educational experience. All participating students will have full access to the facilities, the faculty and staff, the libraries, the scholarship opportunities, the cultural events and student activities, and all the other resources of both institutions.

What are the admission requirements?
A
Students have to meet SDSU admission requirements since they will be admitted as SDSU students. In order to be eligible for admission, you must have a minimum UC/CSU GPA of 2.0. This GPA is calculated based on grades earned in the 10-12 grade AG pattern courses only. A-G courses are:
- 4 years English
- 3 years Math (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry)
- 2 years same Foreign Language
- 2 years of Lab Science (1 physical, 1 biological)
- 2 years History/Social Science
- 1 year Visual and Performing Arts (in the same discipline)
- 1 year College Prep Elective
A-G requirements must be completed with a grade of C or better in each course.
Eligible students must also submit either their SAT I or ACT scores. The minimum Eligibility Index required is a 2900 using the SAT I or 694 using the ACT.
(High School GPA x 800) + SAT I = Eligibility Index
(High School GPA x 200) + (10 x ACT composite score) = Eligibility Index
Note: Fall transcripts showing work in progress should be submitted with the application.
